Random team maker for games and groups

Random Team Generator quickly splits players into a chosen number of teams for party games, pickup sports, classroom games, board game groups, practice drills, and casual tournaments. It supports fully random teams or simple skill-balanced teams from a ranked list.

How teams are generated

Random mode shuffles every non-empty line, then deals players into teams from top to bottom. Skill-based balancing treats the first name as the strongest player, the second name as the next strongest, and so on. It walks down that ranked list and assigns each player to the team with the lowest current skill total. When two or more teams are tied for the lowest total, it randomly chooses one of those tied teams, so balanced teams can vary slightly between generations.

Random Team Generator FAQ

How does skill-based balancing work?
Names higher in the pasted list are treated as stronger players. The generator spreads those players across teams before filling in the rest of the roster.
What if the teams are not even?
If the player count does not divide evenly, some teams will have one more player than others.
Does the generator save my names?
No. Team generation runs in your browser page only.
